Caramelized Pear Porridge

Starting off my mornings with a warm and delicious bowl of oats is definitely my number one way to nurture my body with balance and nourishing ingredients. This meal is filled with fibre to support your gut microbiome and leave you feeling satisfied and full for a few hours to come.

Oats are such a convenient and versatile ingredient - they work perfectly when combined with sweet or savory ingredients. For this recipe I chose to caramelize in-season pears and top this hearty bowl of porridge with peanut butter and mixed seeds!

Ingredients

  • 1 medium pear

  • 1tbsp coconut oil

  • 1tbsp brown sugar

  • boiling water

  • 1 cup of oats

  • 2 cups of your preferred liquid (milk, water) for porridge

  • 1tbsp cinnamon

  • favorite toppings (I used peanut butter and mixed seeds)

Method

  1. Heat up the coconut oil in a pan over medium heat and add the sugar

  2. Cut the pear in half and add into the pan, cook for 3 minutes on each side and cover with boiling water to cook for 5 minutes

  3. Set aside and cook your porridge to your preferred consistency

  4. Place in a nice bowl and take to the next level by adding your favorite toppings!
